Artist's Comments

MIxing black and white sculpey into the super sculpey gives it a matte grey color which makes it easier to pick out mistakes and/or details. I just recently started doing this and it helps a great deal. if you want to get the grey right it's a square of sculpey III black and a square of white mixed into the one pound block of super sculpey, or mix the amounts accordingly to acheive whatever color you want(any color mixes easily into the S. Sculpey as it is fairly translucent, so it all depends what you want for a base tone) A pasta maker(around 25$) will make the mixing a lot easier on you.

yeah, i wish i had a pic. It basically shreds the block of clay to .....uh, spagetti and it makes it easier to mix in this state as opposed to when it's a block.

This must be a fairly soft clay then?

it is yes. It won't stand on it's own and if you get a good batch it should be fairly soft with little to no crumbling and also stretch for a bit before separating. Very easy to manipulate.

So that means all of the limbs must be supported with a section of armature?

yes, else they break too easily. Any thing protruding should be supported with wire.
